The hotel is amazing. The rooms are clean and big. It has a nice rooftop restaurant. The ambiance is great. Walkable location and close to market and sightseeing.
We got a room which was very quiet. Had a good overall experience.
Be mindful it's in a busy location so neighborhood could be noisy at times.
A great location for CENTRO to use as a base to
visit many must visit sites on foot . Upon arrival, our check in was gracious and informative. Front lobby entrance way is manned by security/bellman/front desk room key valet. EVERYONE on staff was professional and attentive. The welcome cocktail on rooftop is delicious . Very nice large room with two balconies, architectural design and elements, restoration of details and ceiling heights that make you swoon with awe. The welcome gift Mexican Hot Chocolate ball. It is very nice, large suite. Very good bed , linens and pillows. BREAKFAST was very good and service was excellent. TEZONTLE roof top bar and restaurant was yummy and service was attentive and professional. Cocktails are great, MEX wine offerings. Remarkably reasonable compared to Polanco$$$$$/ Condesa $$$/Roma $$ neighborhoods.
Zero issues w front desk because we are Spanish-speaking. We stayed for the duration of our original as this property's PROXIMITY and generally very good reviews, excellent website an no major safety concerns instilled hope for a good stay. You will find yourself IMMERSED in local environment. It is KM ZERO. You are in downtown so be savvy.
Upon arrival to our thoroughly cleaned "best" suite I saw some room issues needed to be resolved. They quickly installed a missing shower shelf the next day but the sliding shower doors were incomplete and the one of the pair was still pending upon our check out. (We stayed 3 nights)For the supposed level of their "best" suite, it's unfortunate to wonder why skimp? Missing HANGERS, missing one extra roll of TP, just 2 daily small bottled waters in downtown CDMX and zero flower(s). Open shelving cabinetry was a surprise . This suite is NOT 'best' level so I recommend you don't come with that expectation as I did. This suite was directly below the well insulated floor of roof top TEZONTLE but you will hear nightly cleanup crew dragging heavy tables and chairs across the floor around 10-11pm.
Note: the late night music from the neighboring restaurant could be an issue for other rooms but not this suite, a small city park has its 'colorful' characters, there's a car park adjacent to the hotel so there is a lot of activity in the direct area of the front of the hotel which is tucked neatly into the corner of the transited square.
We let room service in and a large external charger was taken. We checked everywhere in the room and it was no where to be found. After we left. They miraculously found it… seemed a little sketch. They offered to mail it back but we haven’t heard from them since. Make sure every valuable item is in your safe.
We spent a week here last month and while we loved the property itself, we had a very poor experience with one of the managers, Jesus. We feel he totally took advantage of us as American tourists, so beware.
Given we were staying for a week and only brought carry on luggage, about halfway through our stay we inquired about laundry facilities in the area. Jesus said the hotel offered this service and we could just bring our laundry to the front desk and it would be ready in a matter of hours. We assumed it would be charged to the room and a reasonable price. When we returned from our day out and about, Jesus followed us to our room with our laundry. Once inside he insisted we pay him cash immediately and charged us around 1250 pesos (equivalent to over $60 US dollars) for what was a max of two small loads of laundry. Given the discomfort as two females with him in the room demanding payment to leave the laundry we went ahead and paid it. When overhearing us asking another manager about laundry prices the next day Jesus found us later in the day and spontaneously gave us a receipt for the laundry services. The receipt said we had over 16lbs of laundry which is in no way possible. All in all it was a very poor experience and we feel totally ripped off. It soured what was otherwise a nice trip.
What a great experience! The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and impeccably clean, and the location is fantastic (two blocks from the Palace Nacional and other museums). The staff, particularly the manager Lionel, were incredibly kind and helpful through tout our entire stay. Recommend breakfast and dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, the food was excellent and it was a treat to have a delicious Mexican breakfast every morning. Would definitely recommend staying at Casa de la Luz if you are in Mexico City!
